In a first for Watertown mayoral races, Common Council President Augie Tietz, mayoral candidate, has launched his campaign website at www.augietietz.com. Watertown voters can visit the site to learn about Tietz's extensive background in local government and his long track-record in community service organizations including the Rotary, United Way, Big Brothers / Big Sisters and the Chamber of Commerce. There is also a page listing Tietz's top priorities as Mayor, which include job creation, strengthening Downtown Watertown, and fiscal restraint.
A unique feature of the website is an election-themed crossword puzzle. Voters can print the puzzle and fill it in with local and election facts. Voters can also join Tietz's campaign and volunteer their support through signs, letters and contributions. Lastly, there is a page to follow all the news about the mayoral race as it unfolds.
Alderman Tietz had this to say about his new site: "We're in the 21st century now and the internet is an essential way of communicating with the community. Through my website, I can reach more community members more quickly, and enable them to easily contact me by email. This new site is just one example of how I would use the internet as mayor to reach out to the community and help achieve our goals."
