Vote Augie Tietz for Mayor

Augie visits MATC to discuss job training programs

Augie Tietz, Common Council President and candidate for Mayor of Watertown, continued his push for economic development when he recently visited the Madison Area Technical College (MATC) campus in Watertown. Meeting with the District Board of MATC, Tietz emphasized the importance of job training programs. "Job training programs such as the ones MATC offers help make the local workforce more attractive to business." Tietz went on to add, "When business want to expand or relocate, they look at the availability and quality of the local workforce. We're lucky to have MATC here in Watertown - they make us more competitive when it comes to attracting business."

Job training and workforce development programs are key parts of Tietz's plans to build the Watertown economy and create jobs. According to Tietz, "As Mayor, I will encourage the use of job training programs at MATC. I will work with our state representatives to re-inforce the importance of these programs to our community."

Local resources such as MATC are just one of the advantages Watertown has over other communities. Railroad access, active Tax Increment Finance districts and the future Highway 26 bypass are other important factors. Tietz is committed to building the local economy so that Watertown residents can continue to enjoy high-quality local services at a reasonable cost. "Building our tax base by attracting business is the best way we can maintain services and keep taxes down," Tietz added.
