For the last 4 years, I have served on the Watertown City Council, "learning the ropes" of our city government. While on Council, I have served on many important committees and boards and this year I am Council President.
Born and raised in Watertown, I share our community values. After working 25 years locally at Johnson Controls, rising to Facilities and Systems Manager, I have the managerial experience necessary to be Mayor. As a veteran, I understand the importance of dedication and sacrifice. Through numerous community leadership roles over the past 20 years, including president of the Rotary, I have shown my commitment to serve our city. I feel that I am the most qualified candidate and ask for your support.
If elected, my top priorities as Mayor will be our local economy and our downtown. A strong local economy is essential to maintain a good quality of life for our community. A strong local economy means jobs for Watertown residents. A strong local economy grows the tax base, keeping taxes lower for residents. During the past 2 years, we have taken major steps for economic development through the West Side Industrial Park and through TIF districts. We have our first major tenant for the West Side Industrial Park, but there is more work to be done.
Our downtown is the historical center of our community. It's where we gather as a community to shop and socialize. I have been extensively involved in the Riverwalk project, which seeks to strengthen our downtown and make the scenic Rock River the centerpiece, as it was 100 years ago.
There are many challenges that will be facing the city in the next couple of years. It will not be easy, but I am confident that we can maintain the quality of life that we currently enjoy in Watertown and sustain it for the next generation.
Sincerely,
Augie Tietz
